Gerardo Abboud was born in Buenos Aires in 1945. After graduating as an engineer from the University of Buenos Aires he traveled to the East in 1970. He spent 14 years in the Himalayas of India and Nepal, studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism. Since his early years in India, Abboud has been translating Tibetan texts and oral teachings from Tibetan into English and Spanish. In this role, he accompanies his teachers and other lamas of various lineages on teaching tours in several countries, standing out as interpreter of the Dalai Lama in his visits to Latin America since 1992. He is president of the Dongyuling Tibetan Buddhist Center, founded in 1986 in Buenos Aires.
