VV.AA. (2023). Buddhist studies in Latin America and Spain (volume I). Jaume Vallverdú & Daniel Millet (Eds.). Tarragona: Publicacions Universitat Rovira i Virgili & Fundación Dharma-Gaia, 304 pages.
The first volume of Buddhist Studies in Latin America and Spain was published last December 2023. This collective work, edited by Jaume Vallverdú Vallverdú and Daniel Millet Gil, and co-published by Publications of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and the Dharma-Gaia Foundation, is a milestone in the study of Buddhism in Spanish. It aims to illuminate recent advances in the field of Buddhist studies in the Spanish-speaking academic environment, promoting, in turn, its development and international projection. This two-volume publication, the product of a fruitful collaboration between Rovira i Virgili University and the Dharma-Gaia Foundation, provides an interdisciplinary view of Buddhism in these contexts. The two volumes explore this tradition from diverse perspectives, including anthropology, sociology, philosophy, Buddhist studies, psychology, art and interreligious dialogue. This variety of approaches offers a broad and diverse overview of the presence of Buddhism in Spanish-speaking societies.
