Lama Guelongma Tsondru, whose civil name is Lourdes Clapés, is a pioneering and fundamental figure in Tibetan Buddhism in Spain. On April 21, 2026, the RIEB will hold its First International Symposium, entitled “Buddhism and Ibero-American Culture”. This hybrid event, broadcast from Buenos Aires, Argentina, together with the First Ordinary General Assembly of the RIEB, will mark a milestone in the academic institutionalization of Buddhism in the Portuguese-Hispanic sphere, with scientific and organizational activities that will promote dialogue and cooperation between scholars of this ancient tradition.
