Early Buddhist wisdom for navigating modern life: an online lecture with Sāmaṇeri Arindamā.

In a fast-paced era, marked by daily challenges and the constant flow of digital distractions, a valuable opportunity unfolds for those who yearn for peace and a deeper purpose in their existence. The virtual conferenceEarly Buddhismin the 21st Century: How to incorporate the teaching into your daily life, scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, 2024, between 4 and 7 p.m. (Spanish time), emerges as an oasis of inspiration and personal transformation. This event, which will be developed through Zoom, promises to be a sanctuary of wisdom, offering an immersion in the ancient teachings of early Buddhism.

Guiding this journey will be Sāmaṇeri Arindamā, eminent in the study and practice of Theravāda Buddhism, whose existence testifies to an unwavering devotion to the Buddha's instructions. With experience spanning more than a quarter of a century in Buddhist meditation and scholarship, his spiritual path is remarkable for its richness and depth. From his early forays into retreats throughout Europe and Asia, where he deepened his understanding and practice of the Dhamma, to his commitment to social work and nursing, offering support to individuals facing social or personal adversity, his trajectory has been one of altruism and spiritual exploration.

A turning point in her spiritual pilgrimage occurred in 2007, when she traveled to India to study Pali, the language of the original Buddha texts. This learning not only transformed her perception of Buddhism, but also led to her monastic ordination in Myanmar. There, she devoted herself for six years to an intense meditative practice, including periods of seclusion in the jungle, which strengthened her bond with nature and the Dhamma.

Returning to Europe, Sāmaṇeri Arindamā continued with her teaching mission and, in 2020, renewed her monastic vows, taking the initiative in 2021 to found the Saraṇa Vihāra Buddhist monastery. This place has flourished as an essential nucleus for the practice and dissemination of Buddhism, organizing meditations, retreats and events both face-to-face and virtual, and playing a crucial role in the establishment of a women's Sangha in Spain.
